Safety is paramount in enterprise data centers. Our lithium battery systems utilize LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry, recognized for its exceptional thermal stability, high thermal runaway threshold, and chemical safety compared to other lithium-ion variants. This robust chemistry ensures that your high-power backup systems can deliver reliable energy under demanding workloads while maintaining a highly secure footprint within server rooms.
Transitioning from traditional lead-acid to lithium-ion delivers significant physical and financial advantages. These lithium backup batteries offer up to 10 times the cycle life and a design life exceeding 10 to 15 years, virtually eliminating the need for frequent battery replacement cycles. Furthermore, with up to a 70% reduction in weight and a significantly smaller physical footprint, these modules allow IT managers to reclaim valuable rack space and reduce structural floor loading in older buildings.
Intelligence is embedded at the cell level. Each of our lithium modules includes an integrated Battery Management System (BMS) that actively monitors voltage, temperature, State of Charge (SoC), and State of Health (SoH) for individual cells. This smart integration allows for real-time diagnostics, automatic cell balancing, and seamless communication with APC, Eaton, and Vertiv UPS platforms, enabling automated system protection and simplified remote administration.
LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) is preferred for critical backup systems due to its superior safety profile. It has a high thermal runaway temperature and does not release oxygen if punctured or subjected to extreme heat, making it virtually non-combustible. Additionally, it offers a longer cycle life and highly stable voltage output, which are crucial for reliable UPS performance during power interruptions.
While lithium batteries have a higher initial acquisition cost than lead-acid, they offer a vastly lower TCO over their lifecycle. With an operational lifespan of 10 to 15 years (compared to 3 to 5 years for VRLA), they eliminate at least two battery replacement cycles. When combined with zero maintenance requirements, reduced cooling costs (as they tolerate higher operating temperatures), and lower shipping weights, the return on investment is achieved within a few years of deployment.
Many modern Eaton and Vertiv UPS models are "lithium-compatible," meaning their charging profiles and internal firmware are designed to support lithium battery charging dynamics and communicate with the battery's built-in BMS. Before replacing standard lead-acid batteries with lithium modules, we recommend verifying with our technical support team to ensure your specific UPS model and firmware version are fully compatible for safe charging and proper system communication.
